'Sculptured' ottoman by renowned Pacific Northwest studio craft furniture maker Evert Sodegren (1920-2013).
A fourth generation Swedish cabinet maker, Sodergren was a pivotal figure of the American studio craft movement, alonside figures such as George Nakashima and Wharton Esherick.
After returning from WWII, he ran his father's furniture business and began his own practice. He would go on to teach at the University of Washington for 30 years, and retire from his craft at the age of 92.
Produced in 2008, this is in excellent, like-new condition with little sign of wear. Crafted in solid walnut with signature ebony inlay and ebony-capped feet and a leather seat.
This accompanying scarce chair is held in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian's Renwick Gallery, the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
