In early May, I sent my friend Robin Cornuelle (previously at Of Prairies), a text asking "does the Gordon House allow photo shoots? I have an idea for a Wilma X Wright photoshoot."
I had just come back from a trip to Italy overflowing with memories of beautiful food, architecture, culture and landscape, but feeling uninspired by the day to day reality of selling and sourcing vintage. I was looking for a new challenge. The shoot was approved by the board and I started to plan.
The Gordon House is a Frank Lloyd Wright designed home, built for Evelyn and Ed Gordon. Wright designed the home in 1938, and died five years before completion of the project (completed in 1964). Originally located in Wilsonville, the FLW Conservancy became involved in preservation efforts when the property and home were sold. The entire home was moved from Wilsonville to Silverton, and reopened in 2002 to the public.
Throughout the planning process I was involved in other - while fulfilling- projects for other clients. I never had free reign to dream and design exactly to my own taste- which changes often and at times, unexpectedly.
